Looks to me like a man who only lives through his own ideas, values, and opinions, regardless of other people's opinions and regardless of facts themselves. In other words, he doesn't need, or care about, anyone else's ideas, or even reality, for that matter. He's feeding off his own conception of reality - his own mind - because he doesn't need anything else. You'll notice he has his eyes closed : he doesn't need, or want, to see the world around him. He lives in a closed circle of self-agreement and self-contemplation. To say that he's intolerant might not be accurate ; self-sufficient would be more like it.
